NY COP GETS SUCCESSFUL FUNERAL IN GT

By Ewalt Ainsworth

Georgetown came alive over the weekend that New York City Cop, Randolph Holder age 34, was laid to rest in his homeland, Randy in his contract of service with the New York City Police Department, had a living will and requested that he be funeralised in Guyana and all of his hearts desires were met and fulfilled by his peers family and employers.

Randy’s home coming service attracted, more than 100 uniform squaddies. All local law enforcement and auxiliary units were mobilised and President Granger and Cabinet were in full attendance. Also the Us Ambassador and other members of the Diplomatic core and Caricom participated.  Continue reading

QUATRO WORKING CLASS WOMEN FUNERALISED IN GT

QUATRO WORKING CLASS WOMEN FUNERALISED IN GT

This writer only got the news on Tuesday …the same day that cousin Elsie Schweir was being funeralised at the Auchline chapel on the Corentyne Coast.  Elsie was 78 and was socially active.

A fortnight ago my lifelong neighbor and family Waveney Thomas 86, went thru. In the Peoples Republic of Victoria, Cousin Waveney had one son who is a Professor of Mathematics at Medgar Evers College. Her son Trevor Thomas, who lives and works in New York, did not attend the funeral but sent an emissary to represent him. Cousin Waveney, for several significant years, was part of the housekeeping staff and merry maid at the Belfield residence of the Former President LFS Burnham. As I write I recall the late night raids myself and brother made on the overhanging succulent and seasonal genip, sapodilla and dungs trees in the neighboring yard. Perhaps it is too late now to ask for forgiveness but the bats were twice as destructive in harvesting the fruits. Continue reading

EUSI KWAYANA: SILENCE IS NOT A CHOICE

EUSI  KWAYANA: SILENCE  IS NOT A CHOICE

By EWALT AINSWORTH                                                      07 19 2012

ALUTA CONTINUA. “Silence is not a choice” says Eusi Kwayana and is calling for a crusade to resist and desist from the entrapments of the PPP government  to create chaos as more and more homes of PPP activists are set alight and punctuate the Linden night sky.  Some government buildings too are being targeted and the usual volunteers to put out the fires are thumbing their noses at the rancid Prime Minster, Sam Hinds (missing in action.)

Kwayana wants peace loving people in the aftermath of the Linden slayings by police not to become historical and hysterical but to stand wherever they are and protest.    Continue reading

PRODIGAL SON SHOULD MAN-UP

PRODIGAL SON SHOULD MAN-UP

By Ewalt Ainsworth                            05 29 2012

The Reverend Junior Finance Minister and head pro tem of the ERC, Juan Edghill should give up his salary effective immediately. Giving up his salary would be a decent way of saying to the duo leaders of Jagdeo and Ramotar that you empahthise and feel the pain of the employees who have not been paid for the month of May.

Perhaps Cde Edghill the prodigal son should look at the experience of Guyana’s first Governor General, Sir David Rose who saw scaffolding coming down on him and rather than change course or run, he kept his stride without worrying about the outcome. That is what real men do; they are not outcome oriented even in the face of danger and death. They make the ultimate sacrifice so that others can live and learn Sir David Rose is now a permanent resident at the SEVEN PONDS…the same area that Elder Phillip Moore was denied a place. Now it is your time to make your name and man up.    Continue reading

THE ESSENTIALITY OF A CHUCK

THE ESSENTIALITY OF A CHUCK

By EWALT AINSWORTH                     04 21 2012

The first and only time Prime Minister Sam Hinds had to openly stand up and or stand for anything he messed up.  Sam Hinds has misinformed the masses and has left a bitter taste in the mouth of the comrades in Region 10.  The PM has bamboozled the comrades in Linden and may very well put his own bumbling and fumbling self in harm’s way.  Pressure is building and a chuck may become essential because the folks in Linden are adamant; they are not paying any increases in tariffs now or then.

APNU’s Granger too was never part of the scheme to increase tariffs as alluded to by cunning Finance Minister Ashmi Singh in the 2012 budget and tabled by the Prime Minister.  Some say that Hinds has earned himself the title of persona non grata in his base community and he may very well “get a chuck like Commish Greene and go his merry way.  Mr. Greene bowed to pressure and President Donald Ramotar was happy to see him man-up to his indiscretions.   Continue reading

JAMAICAN NATIONAL 102 NOT OUT

JAMAICAN NATIONAL 102 NOT OUT

By EWALT AINSWORTH                                          03 24 2012

This is the second year in a row Jamaican Frank is celebrating his 100th birthday; his is now 102 years and does everything he did half a century ago except waste time and gamble.  Frank is a strong believer in the 11th commandment adumbrated by Reggae Singer Prince Buster…”thou shalt not pidgy-wing or call my name in vain for my wrath shall descend on you heavily.;  all his days are occupied by pretending he will live another century (or part thereof).  And guess what…the medical prognosis is good and over the weekend he had a slight bagwat for those who did not make it on his 102nd birthday – 02 14 2012.

On a recent visit to his official visit residence on Sanford Avenue in Essex County, New Jersey last Valentine’s day, there was very unusual activity.  There were scores of balloons and twice as many people all dressed up, looking good and smelling good awaiting the elevator to go up to the fifth floor.  It is only then I realized that all the young people around me, were on the same mission to go meet and greet Frank and help celebrate his 102nd birthday.   Continue reading

MASSA LOTTERY MASSA PIG & MASSA HOG

MASSA LOTTERY MASSA PIG & MASSA HOG

BY EWALT AINSWORTH                 03 30 2012

Friday will go down as the most luckiest day in the world for somebody, anybody but not everybody.  The New York lottery system is sponsoring the most expensive and incentive-filled game in the history of the lottery project…US 500,000.00.  And with that comes some behavioral issues among our people and some others.

Patrick, a compatriot, some years ago was visiting during the Easter season his adult children who had moved into the home purchased by his ex-wife and current husband.  The current husband, who is a personal friend, tried to be courteous, cordial and cooperative while the ex husband visited.  In addition to cooking some snapper curry and wild rice, the two scampered off quietly to the neighborhood lottery store.  The husband used the curriculum vitae of the ex to select tickets and gave him a bundle as a gift.  One of the bundled tickets yielded a significant amount of money and with that the visiting boo cancelled his visit and headed for the hills without sharing.  A decade has past and neither the ex wife, current husband or immediate past and visiting husband, have spoke n to each other.  As a matter of fact, the women died shortly after and rumors have it that “the low down dirty dog” might have started her demise.  That’s how I buy it and so a sell it.          Continue reading
