COLIN “DAPPER” BRYAN SUFFERS MASSIVE HEART ATTACK AT KURUPUNG LANDING

Colin Bryan

Some 30 years ago Colin Kwesi Holland Bryan donned a warashi and pick axe and headed for the steep and treacherous Kurupung mountain ranges to go dig for diamond and gold much to the consternation of his teaching and long held family traditions.

Two Saturdays ago, the news came thru by wire that “Dapper”, his call name in his hometown of Buxton, had suffered a massive heart attack a few miles from his mining base at Tankay.

Reports suggest he had come out to the Kurupung Landing on plane day to pick up food supplies and inventory for his mining operations.  They say he had breakfast with his team members and was hustling back on foot when he keeled over holding on to his chest and asking for water. In labba time, the team got him some water but it was too late.  Colin succumbed to his heart attack.

A funeral is planned for Saturday March 11th at the St Augustine Anglican Church in Friendship, after lunch.  Colin was a permanent bachelor and celebrated his 50th birthday last December.  He has two children of his own, and nine siblings namely: Joan, Cyril, Elise, Maureen, Andrea, Kevin, Kim, Shelley and Melanie.  His mother,  “Teacher Winnie” is standing strong and is exceptionally supportive of her son.  His father was the late George Bryan (1911-2004).

Those of us who knew the man, who had a fine taste for wine and good times, wish him well in his journey to the great beyond where his Christian up bringing will shine like the jewels he pursued.
