DESMOND SAUL GROUNDED IN FAMILY CELEBRATES 70th BIRTHDAY

By Waltie Ainsworth

Family and friends from every ethic enclave in North America and the Caribbean showed up to celebrate the 70th birthday of beloved Desmond Fitzpatrick Saul….a native of the People’s Republic of Victoria.

The gala was held at the Georgetown Club and the Buxton Pride Steel Orchestra and Brass Circle set the mood and pace for the large family gathering that embraced Desmond. Desmond was born January 23rd and is the 8th of 9 children of the late Paul and Mildred Saul.  Desmond has one other sibling under 70… Edgar Mortimer, who is just as eager to join the geriatric club.

Desmond retired from a Corporate job in North America to become a Missionary and Volunteer in his home town of Victoria. At the dawn of the new millennium, Desmond along with his family and other volunteers has been doing remedial teaching to you adults giving them a chance to compete in today’s fast moving economy.

President David Granger, who described himself as an honorary member of the Saul clan, spoke in superlatives of the massive undertaking Desmond was pursuing. He disclosed that in this New Year and onwards, November 6th each year will be celebrated nationwide as Villages Day on the recommendation of Desmond.

President Granger also disclosed in a matter of weeks, a new stamp will be issued capturing the mood of the villages and those who sacrificed before us, to make the villages domiciles for the denizens of the community.
