VICTORIA’S ROYAL WEB AND FEMALE CO-WORKER DIE IN FIREY CRASH

The fire was so intense after the weekend accident on the Laurelton Roadway in Queens New York that it left a crater on the road and the permanent demise of a female coworker and untimely death of the driver, Mr. Roy Webb Junior the Third. Roy 27, popularly known as ”Royal”, held down two full time jobs; during the day he was a Distributor for Nestle products and on the weekends and social hours he was a Waiter at the famous Antons, in Queens New York. At the time of the accident he was giving two co-workers a ride home and reports are they were texting between and among each other. The identity of the dead co-worker was never disclosed but she will be cremated on Saturday Feburary27th, and Royal will be funeralised on Tuesday March 1st with a viewing on Monday February 29th.

MAYOR HAMILTON GREENE TO GET BUST AMONG GUYANESE NINE PRESIDENTS

Georgetown’s longest serving mayor and former Prime Minister, Hamilton Greene will get a bust all of his own among the nine Presidents of Guyana. These ten busts will be unveiled during the upcoming 50th Independence Anniversary scheduled for May 2016.

The nine presidents so far have been Arthur Chung, Forbes Burnham, Desmond Hoyte, Cheddie Jagan, Sam Hinds, Janet Jagan, Bharrat Jagdeo, Donald Ramotar and now David Granger.

At time of writing no place has been identified for the mounting of the completed bust but the Burrowes School of Art has been awarded the contract to complete the Jubilee Celebration Project.  Continue reading

DESMOND SAUL GROUNDED IN FAMILY CELEBRATES 70th BIRTHDAY

Family and friends from every ethic enclave in North America and the Caribbean showed up to celebrate the 70th birthday of beloved Desmond Fitzpatrick Saul….a native of the People’s Republic of Victoria.

The gala was held at the Georgetown Club and the Buxton Pride Steel Orchestra and Brass Circle set the mood and pace for the large family gathering that embraced Desmond. Desmond was born January 23rd and is the 8th of 9 children of the late Paul and Mildred Saul.  Desmond has one other sibling under 70… Edgar Mortimer, who is just as eager to join the geriatric club.  Continue reading
