AFRODEZIAC PROFESSOR DR .BRADLEY BABA TUNDAE SOLOMON DIES
By Waltie Ainsworth
Guyana is in deep mourning with the untimely passing of Dr Cyril Bradley Baba Tundae Solomon 71, in Georgia a few short days ago. Bradley as he was familiarly known in Guyana lectured in Economics at the Universities of the West indies and Guyana for several years.
Bradley migrated in the 90s and originally lived in the Philadelphia neighborhood and later remigrated to Atlanta where he continued teaching as a life long professor in Black Colleges.
He first started teaching in the 60s at Golden Grove Secondary before moving on to County High School in Buxton where he gained tremendous notoriety as a conscientious professor and administrator…. With Eusi Kwayana as his mentor.
Bradley taught Spanish, Economics and Mathematics at County High School and was very liberal and understanding of the financial needs of his students. He never pressured them or displaced them for non payment of school fees but would instead accept farm produce and volunteered contributions of carpentry and other needed skills to augment finances. Hence him being an afrodeziac to the ambitous rural and rustic community of Buxton.
As long as the student showed up, he would impart the lessons of disciplined democracy and self improvement.
A wake will be held in Brooklyn at St Stephens Church Hall on Newkirk Avenue on Friday 23rd at 8.00pm. Jeggae and Mboya Wood, both former students, will headline a cultural presentation to be hosted by his surviving family.
