ELIZABETH DECEMBER 2.0 ORDAINED DEACON IN OTTAWA

Elizabeth December ordinationBy Waltie Ainsworth

Ms Elizabeth Ann December Lovell, has been ordained a Deacon in the Ottawa diocese, earlier this week.  Elizabeth is well on her way to become a priest and is continuing religious studies at the university level in Ottawa Canada.

A former resident of Alness on the Corentyne and familiarly known as Anne among her comrades, she is second generation pastor in the Anglican Church silo…hence the 2.0 label. Her father the Reverend Father Fred December set the trend in this noble family tradition.

In Guyana, he last served at St Sidwell’s in Lodge. Pastor Fred also worked at St Marks in Enmore, before migrating in the 80’s to Ottawa where he led the flock at St Christopher’s in the East End.  Pastor Fred is now deceased and his daughter Elizabeth Anne has taken up the pastoral role.

She is a fierce believer in the empowerment of church and communities and her focus is ministering to the sick, aged, shut- in, and migrant enclaves. Elizabeth Ann will work out of the Bishop’s office.

The ceremony was witnessed by scores of parishioners, well wishers, family and friends from across the Province of Ontario.  There were two other ordinations to priesthood at the ceremony.

Reverend Elizabeth December is also a retired Banking executive and has two daughters who are both steeped and embedded in the mix and match Christian community in Ottawa.
