CHUCKIE MACINTOSH CALLS IT A DAY

By Ewalt Ainsworth                                         12 28 2013

Ronald MacIntoshBorn and raised  as CHUCKIE MACINTOSH,  it is only in death that the gross  majority has come to know that his correct name is Milton Gordon MacIntosh …sultan of #79 Village, Corentyne.  Chuckie was an equal opportunity sportsman and a staunch spiritual leader.  He carved dishes and chased with loud ice as long as he was invite

Retired, rehired, re-calibrated and somewhat reclusive in his latter days this former economist and development strategist gave no indication or warning of his demise.  It was swift and some may be tempted to say easy.  The coroner’s report suggests he may have died in his bathroom and was not discovered until approximately 13 hours later.  Continue reading

A Christmas Message for All

Hello Everyone!

Grace and peace to all of you,

Today is the last Sunday of Advent. Christians, and even non-Christians in some cases, are now lookingforward to Christmas day, with the same spirit of expectancy, andof hope; peace, joy and love, that characterize the season of Advent.

As you are no doubt aware, the term “Advent” came from the Latin term “Adventus” and means “coming” or “arrival”. This season, which marks the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, as it appears on the Christian Liturgical calendar, is therefore intended to provide time and space for Christians to prepare, not only for the commemoration of the birth of  Jesus the Christ, but also to  reflect and prepare for His glorious return.   Continue reading

BY EWALT AINSWORTH                                                   12 18 2003

Mr. Randy Eleazer

Mr. Randy Eleazer

Senior Counsel Mr. Randy Joseph Eleazer…belated son of former Mayor of New Amsterdam…Joe senior, died a week ago.  Randy was 90 and topped the list of the proficient  British- trained lawyers practicing in Guyana.  He may have retired once, twice, thrice but suffice it to say he never stopped working.  Papa read the newspaper daily, maintained a Facebook account and if the horses were still in play he would be brisk with a whip.  Rex Mc Kay…Berbician as well, may be the last of the dinosaurs of that era still standing. Alcohol pricing – Mulled whines

People are drinking less but doing so more harmfully. Policymakers want higher prices—causing a headache for the booze industry

BY DAY tourists flock to Plaza de España in central Madrid to snap photos beside the sculpture of Miguel de Cervantes, author of “Don Quixote”. By night a newer facet of Spanish culture is on display: loitering groups of young people downing plastic bottles of whisky and vodka mixed with Fanta Lemon. The ground is littered with empties. Nearby, three young men help a friend vomiting on the pavement.  Continue reading

A-DIVISION TOUCHAU DIES SUDDENLY

By EWALT AINSWORTH                              12 15 2013

33883_10200269389674297_1300144412_n Strange strange strange  things are happening within  the  upper ranks of the Guyana Police Force.   BARRON (BV) Touchau and Assistant Commissioner Deryck Josiah is now dead after a fender-bender accident in Region  3… three weeks ago.  Since his elevation Mr. Josiah has had to give up his ancestral roots as a condition of service.  Some servicemen have even had to switch up the ethnicity of their families.  Former Commish Winston  Felix did not switch up  and his seat on the throne was short-lived.  The next in line Commish…notorious Big-Greene had a motor vehicle accident in Region Three and just when most thought he had survived …bhoom…the best worst happened.  Greene is smelling daisies and carrion-crow blossom from the roots.  All across Guyana cemeteries are under water and the Josiah family now has to gather awara seeds and coconut shell banga to cremate their favorite son.  Funerals are exposing the lack of development of the society and the ferocious genes of the politicians; survival is victory and victory is survival.  Continue reading
