MADURO ACTING OUT:  KILLS GT/ EXPELS THREE US DIPLOMATS

By  EWALT  AINSWORTH                10 20 2013

Venezuela under el- President Nicolas Muduro seems to be suffering from a  virulent case of nostalgia.;  Maduro  wants to return to the rough times and confrontational style of his nemesis…Hugo Chavez. Last week a Venezuelan of Guyanese parentage was kidnapped and  killed.  Venezuela, like Guyana, is experiencing violence on a permanent basis. On October 5 two more Guyanese were killed near the border by Venezuelans in military garb. [click for report]

Three US diplomats were expelled for allegedly undermining his administration.  The US personnel were given a limited window…48 hours to leave Caracas.   The country is also experiencing perennial blackouts, protests, work stoppages and environmental problems.  Gang violence is on the rise and Guyanese who ran there for shelter are now running back home; jumping from the canarie into the fire.  The Gt Police Commissioner is sending a newly organized SWAT team to deal with the uptake of violence in the bordering communities,

And on the eve of world Hispanic celebrations last September, 45 students accompanied by armed soldiers over-ran a Guyana Defence Force border crossing post.  Apparently things are heating up in the neighboring territory.  For Amerindians living in Guyana and Venezuela borders are a myth. In Venezuela one town has as many as 90,000 Guyanese huddled together enjoying the subsidized fuel, food and franks.  Food shortages abound and the country has been forced to seek supplies from non-traditional sources and paying hard currency.  Meanwhile the PPP, on a commission basis, allows a chosen few to do as they like while the country is depleted of utilities and Gt becomes replete with smuggled goods. And the eastern neighbor…Suriname…they too have been forced to pull in their shell.  Dori Bouterse, the son of President Desi Bouterse was hauled off a plane in Panama while using a diplomatic passport, and charged with drug smuggling.  He was arraigned a fortnight ago  in New York.  A number of significant others…call name and I would whistle…trembling in their boots.  Young Bouterse cannot bare his chafe and is calling all the others who have enabled him.

Guyana too was having a field day in the Chavez era.  Fuel, building materials, hardware, food and liquor especially, kept everyone in the Essequibo delta happy.

In September too, Maduro came knocking on the door of President Ramotar asking him to curtail smuggling and human trafficking.  He ask the wrong man.

President Ramotar is from Essequibo and at the last elections he was a carpet bagger.  The smuggling of rice in exchange for fuel is business as usual.

Indigenous Guyanese who operate a brisk border trade are coming back to Guyana only to find the school houses depleted and the medical centers and commissaries empty.  And the soldiers  have barnacled themselves to the  Chinese as Guyana’s first line of  defence in the  coveted hinterland.  ASOMELYKAM.
