APNU’s position on Amaila project unchanged – Granger

President Donald Ramotar’s Sunday appeal to Opposition Leader David Granger for the APNU’s support for the Amaila Falls Hydropower Project (AFHP) appears to have found no fertile ground.In a statement released early in the day the president disclosed that he had called Granger urging that the APNU join them in supporting the project for the good of the country.Amaila operator Sithe Global has said that it would go ahead with its US$150 million investment in the US$850 million hydropower plant if all political parties in parliament support the project. The AFC last week voted with the government on legislation seen as critical to the project.  Continue reading

NY GOVERNOR PARTICIPATES IN FUNERAL OF GT STATE TROOPER

A close fortnight ago Junior Martindale, a native of New Amsterdam and former student of Queens College was laid to rest among martyrs at a simple home coming ceremony.

The scriptural reading was taken from the book of Jeremiah …(Jeremiah 29:3) and reflected and resounded  the full potential and un-explained life and times of this decorated state trooper and father of two who was interred  at the veterans cemetery in Goschen, up-state New York on Tuesday July 29.  NY’s Governor, Andrew Cuomo was among the throngs and scores of state, federal and military operatives for the late decorated state trooper of Guyanese ancestry.
