BARRON BURIAL FOR  BILL HOLDER

By   EWALT AINSWORTH                                        07 13 2013

Venerable Customs executive and a visible patriot in Guyana, William Holder succumbed a week ago after undergoing extensive chemotherapy for an irritating throat condition.  Bill is survived by his wife and one daughter …official residence is Georgetown.

Sunday 13th saw a mammoth preliminary viewing before the body was returned to Guyana for entombment later this week at Barron (BV).  Ninety per cent of his relatives, friends and colleagues live in the Diaspora, but his daughter in a quiet but stiff voice prevailed and executed an unspoken plan to take him back to Guyana.  ASOMELKAM.

Bill was 71 and was a career public servant with a vast network of associates and comrades.    He was also altruistic and did not hoard bad blood and petty jealousies.  He was also never scared of dying but growing old in a regime that waxed intolerant and unconcerned about metabolic issues.

And on Tuesday his daughter, Professor Holder, University of Guyana who was with him since his treatment regime started last December exited left for JFK.  “Funeral details for the Gt leg will be published later but his hometown…BARRON, will be his final resting place.

Bill you were a purpose driven patriot.  He will be remembered in several quarters and by efficient quarters and noggins in more than one quarter.

THE FAMILY MISSES YOU BILL.  End.

Bill epitomized the term “tell it like it is”; he stated to all and sundry exactly how he “saw” things and did not seek to curry favor. That being said, he was admired by most folk for his outgoing personality. He’s gone to join some of his boyz whose company he enjoyed and with whom he had many” discussions”, Robbie and Mike Leila. Kindest regards to his family, relatives, friends and colleagues. He will be missed.
