The Guyana Embassy almost ground to a halt last week as it became noticeable that  one of the most senior attaches and wife of Former Information Minister in the PNC government, Ms Barbra Campbell was shafted…she got lowra.    Ms Campbell received an email during her lunch break informing her of her dismissal.  She was unable to return to the embassy to retrieve her personal stuff and clear her desk.  Arrangements for a meeting or explanation for her firing are still sketchy and mute.  Ms Campbell is not a ‘spring-chicken’ and is shell-shocked as she puts up an electronic fence to stave off the inconsistencies and crude behaviors of the PPP administration.

Miss Barbara worked at that office serving the essential strategic office for more than 28 years.  Worst than the dismissal, is the denial of her benefits.  As we speak she is making arrangements to live in Toronto about 4-hours away with relatives.  She has had to give up her apartment too because of the contractual arrangements she had with the original PNC government.  Miss Barbara was extremely gifted and experienced in processing passports and travel documents especially in emergency cases.  She was also gifted in speaking French and Spanish and was a former school teacher in Guyana.

Another awkward situation at the Ottawa office on Slater Street (down-town) is that as a cost cutting device, the embassy was removed from the spacious third floor (suite 305) to a cubicle on the 4th floor.  They have literally “cut their noses and spoiled their face.”  The PPP government is out of touch and out of money and the visible minorities are always the first to go.  Volunteers and donations which also used to be an important component and pet project of Ms Campbell would also be affected because she was the chief liaison person between the embassy and the people have been shafted.  This is not sitting well with the affected publics.

Miss Barbara is originally from Region Three, West Bank Demerara and had her first brush with international relations and foreign affairs when she accompanied her husband, eminent linguist and journalist Frank Ulric (FU) Campbell who served as Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba in the 70s. ‘FU’ Campbell is now an author and motivational speaker globally. He was also Minister of Information and Culture in Guyana.  He also served as a consultant to the Guyana Government and a brief attachment to the United Nations before settling with his wife in Canada.

The current High Commissioner to Ottawa,  Harry Narine Nawbatt, last year was transferred from Brazil; no sooner he took office, at least three other staffers who do not share his ethnicity, ideology,  identify and or philosophies have also been removed and shafted . No money no love.
Nawbatt is an accountant by training and worked previously with Guyana Airways Corporation is also a central executive member of the PPP. The Ottawa has more than 3,000 Guyanese families; 80 per cent are black but now at the office there is no ethnic balance.  Speculation is rife about his ultimate ambitions ‘to ethnically cleanse’ the entire office which has most of its senior and experienced hands as black people.  All calls to the embassy have gone unanswered.

Not surprising … usual modus operandi!

Hi folks, I recently asked you to pray for the Campbell family. As I did not have their permission to publish their grievance, I did not disclose any details. However, we do believe that the God we serve can hear our prayers even when we merely associate those prayers with only a name. We also believe that He moves in mysterious ways. (My favorite proof is the Walls of Jericho.) Very mysterious. I again urge you to pray for the Campbells and pray too that justice will be served at the High Commission. Remember God appointed Israel's first king, but did not spare him when he stepped out of His favor. He still moves mountains. Thanks, Waltie, for your courage in bringing this situation to light.
This is truly a reminder of the racism that still exists in our beloved Guyana.
Let us keep circulating this email. AND PROVE GOD.

If Mrs. Campbell believes that her termination from her GOVERNMENT job was based SOLELY on racial discrimination or “wrongful”, she could just hire an employment OR a public law barrister to argue case, as being in contradiction to Article 149.2 of the Guyanese Constitution.

i would dough very much in a country like Canada.
where everything is so politically correct that race would be the reason.
in Canada you cant even say the word black or those kinds of words
so everyone black says it is because of color..
    Toronto is not southern states.
if it were the other way around then what??????
    nothing would be said.
